I have found that with lighter colors make my eyes appear bigger and brighter. I have many colors of eyeliners, and use them all according to my mood that day. 

For darker eyes to go out on the town, I use a dark-brown liner, although I use a brush to smudge on a bit of shimmery shadow to lighten up the line a bit. I prefer the blue color and that complement blue eyes the best in my opinion.  It is fun to play around with many different colors and combinations to find your favorites. Sometimes I like to go for a funky look and use one of my favorite shades that I own, which is a bright pink color.
